Srinagar, Oct 12 ( UNI) General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General D.P. Pandey on Tuesday said the army is absolutely vigilant on the Line of Control and will not allow any infiltration to come through.
He said the army has been getting inputs that before winter sets in Pakistan may try to push more militants across the LoC.
?This is a last ditch opportunity for our inimical agents to ensure they can push terrorists and terrorist groups. We have been getting inputs,? Lt Gen Pandey said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar.
He said there have been two infiltration attempts in Uri and Rampur sector which were foiled.
?The inputs will keep on coming and I can assure you that we are absolutely vigilant on the LoC. We will not allow any infiltration to come through. One or two which will come through, will be eliminated with the help of the people of Kashmir,? the Corps Commander said.
He said all the counter infiltration measures are “absolutely already in place”.
When asked if there was a need to take more measures on the LoC ahead of winters, he said: ?… I do not think there is a requirement to push in more forces or take out any forces. I have got enough forces to ensure it (no infiltration).?
On the recent civilian killings, he said it must be ensured that it did not affect the communal harmony of the people of Kashmir.
?I do not think there has been an increase (in civilian killings) or something. …Each and every loss is important loss for the families, for the country. I can assure you these are levers that are driven from across the LoC,? he added.
