Face masks are now mandatory in Leh due to an increase in Covid cases

LEH, July 01: The administration has made wearing face masks essential for the general public in the union territory’s Leh district due to a sudden increase in COVID-19 infections in Ladakh.

In order to stop the coronavirus from spreading, District Magistrate Shrikant Balasaheb Suse ordered on Thursday that everyone in public areas in Leh must wear facemasks.

The DM stated that the offender will be fined Rs 500 in the event of any order violations.

According to officials, Ladakh has recorded 22 new instances of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 28,411, while 11 patients were treated and released from the hospital on Thursday.

In Ladakh, there are now 78 active Covid cases, with 77 in Leh and one in Kargil.
