EC Social Welfare inaugurates Farmers’ Training Camp at Trespone

KARGIL FEBRUARY 05, 2020: Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi said that adoption of improved technologies coupled with organic farming can go a long way in giving boost to agriculture sector resulting in better productivity and enhanced farmers’ income.

The EC stated this after inaugurating a farmers’ training cum awareness camp organized by the Department of Agriculture Kargil at Trespone village of Sankoo zone here on Tuesday.

BDC Chairman TSG Block Haji Tahir Hussain, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil Ghulam Muhammad Khan, officers and officials of Agriculture Department Kargil and the local people were present on the occasion.

More than 250 farmers and members of Agriculture Self Help Groups (SHGs) participated in the training programme.

The EC said that keeping in view the importance of agriculture as the key sector of income for major portion of the district’s population, the Council has flagged the development of agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors among its top most priorities. He said that several innovative technologies would soon be introduced among the farmers during the coming agricultural season, which will go a long way in enhancing their income and improving their livelihood.

Meanwhile, officers of Agriculture Department and other experts through their detailed lectures enlightened the participants about various modern production techniques and benefits of adopting new innovations and technology to enhance the production of crops particularly cash crops for overall socio economic development of the farmers and the rural communities.

At the end of the training programme the EC along with the Chairman BDC Trespone and Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil distributed incentives and hybrid vegetable seeds among the members of the Agriculture SHGs.
