Jammu, Oct 12 (UNI) The Army on Tuesday paid tributes to the five soldiers, who lost their lives during the Counter Terrorist operation that took place on October 11 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
According to an official statement, “In a solemn ceremony held at Rajouri, rich tributes were paid to the fallen soldiers who laid down their lives during conduct of Counter Terrorist operation in general area Thanamandi on October 11, 2021.”
During the ceremony, wreaths were laid by senior Army officers and civil dignitaries.
Defence spokesman Jammu based Defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said, “The mortal remains of Junior Commissioned Officer and four soldiers belonging to different parts of the country will be moved to their respective hometown”.
“Indian Army salute the sacrifices of its soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the motherland,” he added.
On Monday, one Junior Commissioned Officer among five soldiers were killed in a fierce gun battle triggered in Dera Ki Gali (DKG) area on Poonch-Rajouri, border districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
