Leh, July 2: The Advisor Ladakh, Shri Umang Narula, IAS, chaired a meeting with the officers of the Resettlement Directorate for Ex-Servicemen in the Conference Hall, UT Secretariat Ladakh. Various issues related to the strengthening of measures to protect the legitimate interests of Ex-Servicemen were discussed at length. The meeting was attended by Major General Sharad Kapur, YSM, SM, Director General Resettlement, Colonel G.P. Singh, Director Resettlement, Zone (North), Colonel (Retd) Sonam Wangchuk, MVC, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Leh, Tashi Dolma, Additional Secretary, Home Department, Ladakh, and others.
At the outset, the Director-General Resettlement briefed the Advisor about specific schemes being implemented for the welfare and betterment of the Ex-Servicemen fraternity by the Union Government viz. Resettlement Training to the Ex-Servicemen, Financial Assistance for Ex-Servicemen in Penury, Financial Assistance for Education of Children of Ex-Servicemen/Widows, Financial Assistance to 100% Disabled child of Ex-Servicemen, Financial Assistance for the marriage of Ex-Servicemen daughters, Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme to the children of Ex-Servicemen, etc. Advisor mentioned the steps related to the welfare and resettlement of Ex-Servicemen taken by UT Ladakh, which includes Horizontal reservation to the extent of 6% jobs for Ex-servicemen as per Ladakh Reservation Rules, the constitution of the Rajya Sainik Board for Ladakh, recruitment of Subordinate staff in the Sainik Welfare Department as per extant rules and placement of an Officer as in-charge Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Leh.
The Advisor reviewed all the functions and plans of the Sainik Welfare office and assured that UT Administration is committed to providing all possible facilities for the welfare and resettlement of ex-servicemen from Ladakh.
